The rules-lite book gives you everything you need to play your first games, holding your hand through the whole process—from understanding dice to making rulings and embracing your role as the GM or “Referee” The universe is fully realised, detailing each planet, the adventures found there, and how to run them. Character creation is simple and requires minimal prep for the Referee.
$25 for a PDF is quite steep, and the pages feel a bit text-heavy, which could create accessibility issues.
If you’re looking for a crunchy, complex system, this isn’t for you—and that’s okay! Space Aces isn’t trying to be that. But if you want an RPG to play with your kids or a low-stakes, fun introduction to sci-fi TTRPGs, this is a fantastic choice.
